Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: ‘100%’ Rashford CLAIM, Guehi LATEST, Gittens INTEREST
Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano has dropped a series of major updates on Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, Chelsea’s interest in signing Marc Guehi and much more.
Marcus Rashford: Two clubs with concrete interest
Romano has confirmed that two clubs are currently chasing the signature of Marcus Rashford from Man Utd, with the player having previously admitted that he is open to a new challenge.
Romano said: “Marcus Rashford is going to be one of the big names to follow in the January transfer window. The first thing to say is that the situation is 100% open. There’s still a chance for him to stay at Manchester United.
“Maybe there’s a chance to keep him until the end of the season, but for January there are some clubs who have started moving for Rashford – calling, asking for conditions of the deal, understanding what happens for Rashford and how much he would cost for six months.
“Borussia Dortmund are showing a concrete interest. They already did a fantastic job with Jadon Sancho in the last transfer window. Their relationship is very good. They’re considering this move.
“AC Milan are looking for an offensive player and some contacts have already taken place but they want to explore the eventual conditions of the deal. Nothing advanced, nothing closed, but contacts ongoing.
“There are more clubs interested in Rashford, so there will be movements in the next stages to understand how it’s going to evolve.”
Romano did confirm, however, that Rashford will not be going to Turkey.
“Galatasaray called to offer him the opportunity to spend six months in Turkey and then go back to Man Utd in the summer. But Rashford doesn’t want to proceed with that option: his full focus is on the top five leagues in Europe. Galatasaray are willing to wait,” he said.
Premier League sides REALLY interested in Gittens
Jamie Gittens has been a standout player for Borussia Dortmund this season and this has not gone unnoticed in England, with top clubs clamouring to sign him, Romano says. Chelsea and Liverpool are particularly interested.
“Borussia Dortmund are attentive to the wingers market because Donyell Malen can go to the Premier League. Aston Villa are clear favourites to sign him already. There’s been a few weeks of negotiations,” Romano said.
“My understanding is that in 2025 – probably summer more than January – it’s going to be difficult to keep Jamie Bynoe Gittens at the club. The interest from Premier League clubs is more than strong. They’re really following the progress of Bynoe Gittens at Borussia Dortmund.
“They know they’ll need wingers from the summer.
“My understanding is the big Premier League clubs are starting to move. Several times scouts from Liverpool, Chelsea and more have been in attendance to follow his progress.”
Antony to Olympiacos: No deal
Unsurprisingly, Man Utd winger Antony will not be going to Olympiacos this January, despite rumours suggesting there is interest.
Romano said: “The deal is not advancing. It’s not concrete, it’s not something likely to happen in the January transfer window. Like many other clubs in Spain and Italy, they’re calling to understand the conditions of the deal but Man Utd are not willing to pay the whole salary of the player. That would make no sense. From the player’s side, Olympiacos is not considered a priority.”
Marc Guehi: Chalobah to be key?
Romano has suggested that Trevoh Chalobah could allow Chelsea to sign their top centre-back target Marc Guehi, Romano says.
“Chelsea are starting some internal discussions with Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi. I can confirm that Chelsea have an appreciation for him,” he said. “They have a recall clause in the contract of Trevoh Chalobah at Crystal Palace and could use that clause as part of the negotiation for Guehi, who has 18 months left on his contract.
“Palace have no intention of losing Guehi in January. Chelsea have made contact, but it’s not something very easy.
“Chelsea have other options in their list, and remember they could still do something in an offensive position, especially with the situation of Mudryk and Nkunku.”
Man Utd hold Dorgu interest
Ruben Amorim wants a new left-sided defender at Man Utd, and Romano says there is a new name on their shortlist, while he also confirmed a new contract at Old Trafford.
“At Manchester United, Amad Diallo’s new deal is almost ready. He’ll sign a new contract,” he said.
“And then, Man Utd have added Patrick Dorgu to the list of players they’re following at left wing-back. He plays for Lecce, doing very well in Serie A. He’s been on the list for Tottenham and Chelsea, last summer. Now United are monitoring him and Lecce will not make it easy in January.
“United want Milos Kerkez as a target, Nuno Mendes is the dream target, but he’s very difficult to get, and also Dorgu.”
