Chelsea continue to be linked with a sensational January move for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.

Unai Emery’s side have put a €100 million price tag around the neck of Colombia international Duran, who has shone for the Villa Park side this season.

The 21-year-old, who has seven Premier League goals this season and three more in the Champions League, has had to play second fiddle behind Ollie Watkins at Aston Villa this season, doubtless playing a role in fuelling transfer rumours.

PSG have been linked with the striker, West Ham United have had an offer rejected while Chelsea are credited with an ongoing interest in the player.

Now the Blues and West Ham, both of whom targeted the player in the summer, have been told the cold reality of their prospects of landing Duran.

Transfer expert Dharmesh Sheth explained to Sky Sports: “This isn't just an attraction from West Ham United that's come about in this transfer window. They've got a long-term admiration for this player. They tried to sign him in the summer. Graham Potter is a long-term admirer of the player as well.

“But Aston Villa weren't for doing business in the summer. You remember that video, probably ill-advised now, he's probably regretting it now, is Jhon Duran when he was videoed doing the iron signer.

“But since then, he signed a new long-term contract to Aston Villa until 2030. And Aston Villa are not wanting to sell Jhon Duran.”

Villa insist on €100m for Duran

It will take an enormous bid from Chelsea for Aston Villa to begin consider selling the striker, who has seen his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) leap to €36.6m off the back of his efforts this season.

South American football expert Tim Vickery added: “If you were Aston Villa, would you want to let him go to a Premier League rival? No way.

“He’s a special talent. He’s not easy to handle. Some of the special things we see on the field are the result of not an easy personality.

“The idea of Aston Villa wanting to cash in, it’s certainly not what I would do.”

Given his sharp improvement, though, Villa are determined to retain the services of one of the Premier League’s most exciting players and have slapped an asking price of €100m on the forward in a bid to ward off unwanted attention.
