Paris Saint-Germain are willing to offer Mohamed Salah a significantly better contract than Liverpool, according to French media.

The Egypt international is one of three Liverpool superstars out of contract at the end of the season along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Salah has been uncharacteristically outspoken regarding his contract situation, expressing his disappointment at the lack of progress in the talks on multiple occasions.

Despite this, recent reports have claimed that Liverpool are cautiously optimistic that Salah and Van Dijk will ultimately extend their stays at Anfield, while major doubts still linger over Alexander-Arnold amid interest from Real Madrid.

However, it seems that a Salah extension may not be so straightforward after all.

PSG want Salah

At least that is according to French journalist Romain Collet Gaudin, who reports that PSG are willing to blow Liverpool out of the water with their contract offer for the soon-to-be free agent.

The French giants have been linked with Salah for several weeks as the player is known to have a good relationship with club boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Despite the latter's insistence that PSG are not in for the Egyptian, the rumours are refusing to go away.

According to Gaudin, PSG are ready to offer Salah a €500,000 per week salary and a three-year contract, whereas Liverpool are only said to be willing to extend his deal for two seasons with a €400,000 per week wage.

The journalist does not provide more information on the situation and whether PSG have already initiated talks with Salah's camp. After all, they are now permitted to formally speak to the 32-year-old.

However, it is unsurprising that the French giants would be interested, even if signing Salah would go against their new transfer policy of signing youth. The Liverpool legend has been in red-hot form this term, scoring an absurd 20 and assisting 17 in just 26 appearances.
