Man City launch bid for FOURTH signing as January spending tops €210m

Manchester City’s busy January transfer window is set to continue, with Pep Guardiola eager to continue his spending spree by making a €65 million bid for one of the game’s most promising young players.

Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso has charmed City, according to La Stampa, and now Guardiola’s side are ready to make a blockbuster bid for the 24-year-old Italian.

Man City have already lined up a January transfer window in which they will spend lavishly. Omar Marmoush will sign from Eintracht Frankfurt, Koudir Khusanov is set to join from Lens and Vitor Reis will arrive from Palmeiras.

Guardiola’s side are having to spend big on Cambiaso to lure him away from Juventus, with his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) sitting at €30m.

According to Fabrizio Romano, City have already made contact with the agent of the player, who could be open to the deal.

“Cambiaso is not pushing to leave Juventus. Cambiaso is a super serious professional. He loves Juventus. He loves Italian football,” Romano said.

“But obviously when Man City is calling you, you don't say: 'Okay, goodbye, I'm not interested.' That's absolutely obvious. So he's talking to Man City, but it's not Cambiaso who is pushing to leave Juventus. It's an opportunity coming from the market and Cambiaso is listening.

“And the conversation was positive on the contract with the player side. Five-year contract, one-year option. So the discussion is already advanced on the player side. Now it depends on the clubs.”

Cambiaso ‘perfect fit’ for Man City and Pep Guardiola

FootballTransfers’ Italian football expert Carlo Garganese believes the defender would be a dream signing for Manchester City.

“Andrea Cambiaso is stylistically the perfect fit for Pep Guardiola,” Garganese said. “He is a tactically very flexible and unorthodox player, who can interpret multiple positions and roles on the pitch.

“Naturally, he is a both-footed full-back or wing-back who can play on either side. But he has also played as a winger and as a central midfielder for Juventus.

“As a full-back, he loves to get forward and to invert by cutting inside and joining the centre of the field as a playmaker. He is technically excellent, creative and a good dribbler.

“He can occasionally switch off, be too laidback and take unnecessary risks, leading to a few costly mistakes this season, but his ceiling for growth is high.

“Pep Guardiola would love him for his tactical and positional intelligence.”

Cambiaso started his career with Genoa and moved to Juventus in 2023 after numerous loan spells. His impressive display for the Turin giants have led to this interest from Man City.
