OFFICIAL: Man City complete Vitor Reis transfer
Manchester City have officially completed the signing of Vitor Reis from Palmeiras.
One of the most highly-regarded young defenders has joined up with Pep Guardiola. Man City have announced the acquisition of 19-year-old wonderkid Vitor Reis in a blockbuster deal.
Over the past months, the teenager managed to establish himself as an eminently exciting up-and-coming centre-back, with Reis playing regularly for Brazilian giants Palmeiras despite his youth.

Along with Chelsea-bound Estevao Willian, Reis cemented Palmeiras' status as one of South America's foremost producers of young talent, and the Serie A side have made a fortune from selling their prospects.
Most of Europe's elite clubs held an interest in Reis following his rapid emergence, but Man City have managed to beat off competition from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal, among others.
Man City sign Reis
Man City are set to pay a fee of just €35 million plus €5m in bonuses for Reis despite the player having boasted a whopping €100m release clause at Palmeiras. Nevertheless, the 19-year-old has become the most expensive centre-back in the history of Brazilian football.
Unlike initially assumed, Reis will join up with Man City immediately. Palmeiras had originally insisted on keeping the defender until the Club World Cup in the summer, but Man City managed to convince the Brazilian side to sell this month.

Palmeiras did manage to secure some concessions from the Cityzens, chiefly a sell-on percentage should the youngster ever leave the Etihad. Reis has signed a long-term contract until 2029 with the reigning Premier League champions.
After Abdukodir Khusanov, who joined from RC Lens for an initial €40m, Reis is the second young centre-back added to Guardiola's squad this January. Next up on the agenda for Man City is to complete the signing of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt.
