New Pogba REVEALED as Man Utd star labelled a ‘wrong ‘un’
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been told that he has a “wrong ‘un” in his ranks at Old Trafford.
Alejandro Garnacho is the Man Utd player in question, with Graeme Souness, who was notorious for his criticism of Paul Pogba during the France midfielder’s time at Man Utd, targeting the Argentina international because of his attitude.
The 20-year-old has been told he has “no chance” of thriving under Amorim, who dropped him along with Marcus Rashford for the Manchester derby and has only started him in two of the last nine matches.
“I spoke last week about the example Bruno Fernandes sets and I hear about Alejandro Garnacho being unhappy with the manager. Can someone remind me of just who he is?” Souness, a Liverpool legend, wrote for the Daily Mail.
“The last time I looked he was only a 20-year-old boy. One who is only one step up, on a ten-rung ladder. Who are you?
“He acts like a ‘wrong ‘un’ on the football pitch and, unless he changes, he’s got no chance of fulfilling what obvious potential he has.”
Souness was critical of the wages that Premier League clubs give to young players, suggesting that Garnacho is one of those who has got too much, too young.
He said: “Premier League teams are forced into paying fortunes to kids because, if they don’t, someone else will.
“But you’re only ever investing in potential, and more often than not when you give a young man too much too soon they get in their armchair and never fulfil their potential.”
What did Souness say about Pogba?
Souness’s comments echo those that he previously made on Pogba, Man Utd’s most expensive signing ever, writing for the same paper.
Commenting on the World Cup winner, he said: “He had the potential to be one of the best midfielders ever. Instead, he wasted his career. I criticised him to such a substantial degree - and I take no satisfaction saying I was right - because I saw that huge potential. I saw the kind of player he could become.”
Garnacho, then, might do well to heed the former Liverpool star’s warning and buck up his ideas or else wind up like one of the biggest disappointments in Man Utd’s recent history.
