A deal to take Alejandro Garnacho to Napoli is close, reports from the Italian media report. Man Utd have lowered their demands for the player and Gazzette dello Sport claims there is a positive end in sight.

Describing the Argentine as a “lethal weapon” who can help fire Antonio Conte’s side to the Serie A title – they are currently top of the standings and being spearheaded by a couple of former Old Trafford players in Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay – Napoli are willing to pay €55 million for the 20-year-old.

United have dropped their initial, ambitious, demand of €80m to €65m, and there is hope that the clubs will again be able to meet in the middle.

“Garnacho has stopped being a transfer market dream for Napoli and has become a real possibility,” Gazzetta says.

Napoli already have an agreement over a five-year deal for the player, who is set to double his salary and is pushing to join the Italian club.

Patrick Dorgu: Napoli disrupt Man Utd plan

Man Utd’s talks with Napoli are being conducted by Matt Hargreaves, who is also in Milan for a double purpose. He is negotiating the transfer of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.

So far, the Red Devils have come up short, with the Serie A outfit determined to keep the left-sided player until the end of the season. United have offered €30m while Lecce are demanding €35m.

Now Napoli are ready to complicate matters for the Premier League side in the case of the 20-year-old, too.

Fuelled by the €70m they received from PSG for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the biggest deal of the January transfer window to date, they are ready to offer Lecce €35m for Dorgu and a loan deal until the end of the season.

Such an offer could prove fatal to Ruben Amorim’s hopes of luring the Denmark international to Old Trafford. Napoli are ready to offer Lecce everything they want for Dorgu.
