Romano announces DELAY to Man Utd transfer amid fears of deal COLLAPSE
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the transfer that will take Patrick Dorgu from Lecce to Manchester United has been delayed.
Dorgu is set to join the Old Trafford club in a €35 million deal yet a lack of apparent movement in the deal had sparked some fears among the United faithful that the deal had hit a stumbling block after apparently being inevitable.
MAN UTD TRANSFER NEWS TODAY: Nkunku loan swoop as Romano exciting deal
Romano had previously indicated that the transfer of the 20-year-old wing-back would be completed on Thursday, and with that possibility going, supporters had become edgy, with Man Utd’s record of getting deals over the line patchy at best.
The football transfer news expert has confirmed that there has been a hold up in the move being completed – but he says there is nothing to panic about.
Taking to X, Romano tweeted: “Patrick Dorgu’s medical at Manchester United to be re-scheduled as could now take place over the weekend.
“No issues or problems as deal has been agreed but just due to documents/contracts Dorgu’s expected to fly to England over the weekend.”
What this means is that the deal could go all the way to Deadline Day, which is on 3 February.

Fans unsettled by Dorgu delay
Man Utd fans on the social media platform reacted with a mixture of frustration and relief.
“Always a problem at United,” one fan said.
Another added: “And another week without a new signing. Always happens only when United are involved. Really, people have jinxed this club…”
Dorgu, a Denmark international, is a deal that is set to be completed imminently, with Lecce having already snapped up a replacement in the form of Daniel Oyegoke, who previously played with Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.
All the evidence points to Dorgu to Man Utd being done and becoming Ruben Amorim’s first major signing in the process.
