Manchester United have been told it will take a “completely crazy proposal” to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo during the January transfer window.

Ruben Amorim is eager to bolster his first-team squad this month and Mbeumo has reportedly been identified as a key target amid his immense form in west London.

The 25-year-old has registered 13 goals and three assists in 20 Premier League games so far this season, and he has been heavily linked with a number of top clubs, including both Arsenal and Man Utd.

Amorim’s side are interested in signing the Cameroon international this year, with both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho potentially set to leave Old Trafford.

Spanish publication Fichajes have even reported that Man Utd could submit a €50 million bid to sign Mbeumo before the January window closes.

However, Fabrizio Romano has stated that Brentford are extremely likely to retain the 25-year-old until the end of the current campaign.

The transfer expert told GiveMeSport: “Brentford have no plans to part ways with Bryan Mbeumo despite links with some of the biggest clubs in England.

“He’s doing fantastically and Brentford want to keep Mbeumo at least until the end of the season - only a completely crazy proposal could change the scenario.”

Bryan Mbeumo to Man Utd?

Mbeumo has an Estimated Transfer Value of €44.3 million, but Brentford would reportedly demand a far larger fee to sanction a January exit, which is likely to end Man Utd’s interest.

With Antony and Rashford heavily linked with mid-season departures, and Garnacho potentially set to follow this summer, Amorim may therefore need to identify alternative targets if he wants to strengthen his attacking core this month.

Nico Williams and Geovany Quenda have both been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, while Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres are also being monitored.
