Man Utd get ‘MAJOR TWIST’ warning over Odegaard 2.0
Manchester United face the potential of increased competition from Arsenal and Chelsea over a player who has been dubbed the ‘next Martin Odegaard’.
Man Utd have long been linked with Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan, an 18-year-old midfielder who is set to join the increasingly long list of Norwegian superstars that includes Odegaard, Erling Haaland, Antonio Nusa and Oscar Bobb.
As far back as September, Nypan was seen as an important January transfer target for the Red Devils, yet Ruben Amorim’s side have delayed over a deal and face the possibility of being beaten to the wonderkid by both Arsenal and Chelsea, according to GMS.
RPROFILE: Who is Sverre Nypan? The Norwegian wonderkid chased by Man Utd
Man Utd believe that they will be able to sign the teen if they bid around €17.8 million (£15m), which would make the Rosenborg starlet the second-most expensive player to come out of Norway behind only John Obi Mikel, who controversially moved to Chelsea and not Old Trafford in 2006 for €20m.
The inaction from Ruben Amorim’s side at the beginning of January has seen interest from rivals intensify at a “rapid rate”, the report states.
Chelsea and Arsenal are just two of the clubs who will seek to benefit, with Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and AC Milan also tracking the teenager, with it described as a “major twist” if he did not wind up at Old Trafford.

Where does Nypan want to go?
Nypan has previously described Manchester United as his ideal club.
Speaking to United.no, he said moving to the Red Devils would be a ‘dream come true’ for him.
Amorim’s side are still interested in the youngster, who would fit the profile of the type of player they are trying to sign following the expected capture of Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno.
For his part, Nypan could push to leave Rosenborg if he does not get assurances that he will win regular first-team football at a club he has featured for on 60 occasions.
