Man Utd Transfer News Today: Garnacho UPDATE, Dorgu COMPLICATION, Nkunku SLAMMED
FootballTransfers runs through all the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Alejandro Garnacho, Patrick Dorgu and Christopher Nkunku.
Alejandro Garncho update
Napoli have confirmed their interest in Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho, following the departure of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Argentine is Napoli’s primary target, although Man Utd's valuation of the player has led the Italians to also negotiate with Borussia Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi.

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna confirmed on Saturday evening that talks are ongoing for both players but he underlined that he would not pay over the odds for either.
“[Karim] Adeyemi and [Alejandro] Garnacho are two names that interest us, that we like,” he said before Napoli's 2-1 win over Juventus.
“They are not the only ones. We will try to evaluate the opportunities. We certainly will not pay prices outside the market.”
It is understood that Garnacho has reached an agreement with Napoli over personal terms, but Napoli have already seen two offers rejected by Man Utd.

Patrick Dorgu stance
Man Utd are pushing to sign Patrick Dorgu before the end of the January transfer window, but Lecce have reiterated their desire to retain the Denmark international.
“There are a series of situations in progress to complete the squad,” Lecce president Sticchi Damiani told Sky Sport Italia (via Football Italia).
“We are trying to resist, as is logical, because it is in our interest to keep the players who are protagonists of this group. So far, our idea is to not sell anyone in January.”
Reports have previously indicated that Man Utd would need to pay at least €40m to sign Dorgu in January.
Gary Neville on Christopher Nkunku
Man Utd legend Gary Neville has slammed his former club’s pursuit of Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.
The Red Devils have been touted to sign Nkunku in exchange for Garnacho before the January transfer window closes, but Neville believes the Frenchman would be a poor signing for Ruben Amorim’s side.
“I don’t get it for United,” Neville told NBC Sports. "Nkunku’s hardly kicked a ball, he’s had the injury when he first came and struggled to get going at Chelsea.
“I’m not saying Garnacho is the best player in the world, he needs to stay at Manchester United, but if they get good money for him that might work.
“But to swap him for Nkunku, I would have to say that isn’t a move I would do if I was Manchester United.”
Besiktas want Casemiro
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to raid his former club by signing Casemiro before the end of the January transfer window, as per AS.
The new Besiktas boss is determined to bolster his squad before Deadline Day and he has reportedly identified Casemiro as an ideal candidate to replace the underperforming Moatasem Al-Musrati.
Paul Merson on Ruben Amorim
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes that Ruben Amorim may already regret his decision to join Manchester United.
The 39-year-old was appointed as Erik ten Hag’s successor back in November and he has endured a tough start to life at Old Trafford.
Merson told Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday: “I think the manager will be sitting there deep down and thinking: ‘Should I have taken this job?’
“He didn't want to take it until the end of the season, and I think he'll be sitting there now thinking: ‘I'm not sure I can do this job.’
“I don't think it's just him. I think any manager, I think you're looking at Financial Fair Play rules and how far they're behind now, and look where they are in their league, they're 13th in the league. Bournemouth have got better players. I mean, when has that ever happened?"
Sverre Nypan blow
Arsenal are leading the race to sign Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan, according to RMC Sport.
The Norwegian is also being courted by Manchester United and Manchester City, but Arsenal are the frontrunners to land him this summer.
Nypan was in attendance at the Etihad Stadium for Man City’s 3-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday, but he would likely be loaned out to Girona before being integrated into Pep Guardiola’s side.
However, Nypan would reportedly be given an immediate first-team role at Arsenal, and the Gunners are therefore in pole position as things stand.
