Tottenham have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for a €60 million transfer of Mathys Tel, according to L'Equipe.

Things have moved rapidly for the 19-year-old in recent days. At the start of the January window, Tel was determined to stay at Bayern Munich and fight for his place.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the club in a discussion with head coach Vincent Kompany, while the latter vowed to use him more. However, in the games since that talk, Tel has barely seen minutes, only starting in Bayern's Champions League clash against Slovan Bratislava.

Unsurprisingly, then, the Frenchman changed his mind and decided that he would have to leave the club to get regular minutes and continue his development, which looked to be so promising when he burst onto the scene at Stade Rennais.

A host of clubs have enquired about Tel, with Bayern director Max Eberl confirming early on Thursday that he had never received so many calls for a single player in such a short time.

Spurs agree Tel deal

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd and Aston Villa have all been considering a move for the striker, but it is Tottenham who have now struck an agreement with Bayern.

At least that is according to L'Equipe, which reports that Spurs have agreed to pay a whopping €60 million for Tel. It comes after Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Wednesday that the North London club were prepared to 'go big' on the forward.

However, a deal is not yet done because Tel has yet to greenlight a move to Spurs. Though a club-to-club agreement has been reached, the player still has to make a final decision.

Tel will only move to a club where he is guaranteed to see regular minutes. Given the injury - and form - crisis at Tottenham, logic would suggest that he would be open to joining Ange Postecoglou's side, but it remains to be seen how he will decide.
