The wantaway Napoli winger is finally set to secure the move he had already wanted in the summer. After starring for Georgia at Euro 2024, PSG launched a blockbuster €200m bid for Kvaratskhelia and teammate Victor Osimhen that was rebuffed by the Serie A side.

Napoli had resigned themselves to losing Osimhen but were determined to keep Kvaratskhelia. Ultimately, their gamble didn't pay off. They didn't manage to secure a large fee for Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia has performed below expectations this term.

With January approaching, the 23-year-old again expressed his desire to leave Napoli and the club agreed to grant his wish, with PSG immediately pouncing on the opportunity.

Premier League clubs Chelsea and Liverpool were also attentive to his situation, but PSG have moved swiftly to wrap up a deal.

PSG agree Kvaratskhelia deal

Personal terms with Kvaratskhelia were not an issue and agreement on a five-year contract was reached shortly after the news of PSG's negotiations broke.

The bigger problem was settling on a fee with Napoli, who were holding out for a sizeable €80 million. After several days of tough negotiations, various sources from France, Italy and England report than an agreement in principle has been agreed.

The upfront fee is believed to be close to €70m, but even with bonuses added on top, the final sum will fall short of Napoli's initial demands. Nevertheless, it is a deal that both clubs are said to be satisfied with.

Napoli will now be in the market for a replacement. The 2023 Serie A champions have been linked with Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford of Man Utd in recent days, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has played down interest in the latter.

There have been reports in Italy that Napoli have agreed a deal in principle for versatile Lecce star Patrick Dorgu, who can feature on the wing and as a full-back. The young Dane is also on the radar at Man Utd as an option for the left-back position.
