Chelsea fans have taken aim at co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart following their dismal run of recent results.

The Blues have picked up just three wins from their last 10 matches in all competitions and they exited the FA Cup on Saturday evening after a 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The sublime start to Enzo Maresca’s Stamford Bridge tenure has now ended, but Chelsea fans have directed their anger at the club’s transfer chiefs, rather than their head coach.

Clearlake Capital have tasked the aforementioned Winstanley and Stewart with acquiring the best young players in world football over the past few years, but Chelsea’s failure to sign proven talent has stunted their progress.

The Blues have failed to win a domestic trophy since 2018 and despite spending just shy of €1.4 billion on new signings over the last two-and-a-half years, Chelsea still have several glaring issues in their first-team squad.

Maresca doesn’t have a reliable goalkeeper at his disposal, while Chelsea are often ineffective when Cole Palmer is anonymous, largely due to the lack of a goalscoring centre forward and a prolific winger.

Banking on potential has its perks, but Chelsea fans are growing frustrated by their club’s transfer strategy and have called for Winstanley and Stewart to be sacked.
