Chelsea have received a €30 million bid from Borussia Dortmund for Carney Chukwuemeka - and they will not accept, according to reports.

The Blues midfielder has been something of a forgotten man at Stamford Bridge. Signed in 2022, Chukwuemeka has barely played for Chelsea due to injury problems and not being favoured by his coaches.

Under Enzo Maresca, the England youth international has not made a single Premier League matchday squad and he has only played 130 minutes of competitive football this season.

All window, Chukwuemeka has been expected to leave the club but so far, still no final decision has been made. This is likely due to the fact that, at the start of the transfer period, the Blues demanded that clubs pay his €48 million release clause.

This was always a far-fetched demand and clubs were unsurprisingly reluctant to engage at that price. This prompted Chelsea to change their stance and open up to the possibility of a loan exit.

Dortmund make Chukwuemeka offer

Now, one side have actually made Chelsea a massive offer for Chukwuemeka - and the West London club have gone and rejected it. Borussia Dortmund approached the Blues late on Saturday evening with a loan offer that, according to Sky Germany, included a sizeable €30m purchase option.

However, Fabrizio Romano reports that the Blues will not accept this offer or, in fact, any proposal with an option to buy. With the end of the window fast approaching, Chelsea will only sanction a straight loan departure of Chukwuemeka.

Dortmund remain in talks and could offer a different formula, but Romano reports that Chelsea are also considering different options for the Austria-born midfielder.

A loan to Ligue 1 affiliate Strasbourg has been floated for some time, while Monaco and Premier League clubs also hold an interest in the 21-year-old.
