Chelsea have opened talks with 19-year-old defensive midfielder Kofi Amoako over a summer transfer, according to German media.

The Blues' unquenchable thirst to collect promising youngsters, and particularly midfielders, shows no signs of disappearing anytime soon. Chelsea already have a host of talented options on their books, but that has not stopped them from dipping into the market.

In January, the West London club added French youth international Mathis Amougou to their ranks after also eyeing Nico O'Reilly and Dario Essugo. There have been reports that the latter could also be a target for them again in the summer.

At the end of the season, Lesley Ugochukwu, Andrey Santos and Carney Chukwuemeka will return from their loan stints, while attacking midfielders Estevao and Kendry Paez will finally join after being signed last year and the year before, respectively.

Despite this, Chelsea are considering signing yet another up-and-coming midfield prospect.

Chelsea open Amoako talks

According to BILD, Chelsea have opened talks with the entourage of Wolfsburg youngster Kofi Amoako, who is spending the season on loan at German third-tier side Osnabruck.

The 19-year-old has been a regular in the 3. Liga and Osnabruck have enjoyed a real resurgence in recent weeks after looking under genuine threat of suffering back-to-back relegations.

Primarily a holding midfielder, Amoako can also feature at centre-back. His versatility makes him an attractive option and the report describes him as a 'super talent' and 'defensive all-rounder.'

The teenager made his Bundesliga debut in late 2023, but he would only manage to make one more first-team appearance afterwards. He is said to be available for just €350,000 in the summer.

Chelsea, it is claimed, would look to loan him to Ligue 1 affiliate Strasbourg, while Belgian side Standard Liege are also credited with an interest in Amoako.
