Chelsea will have to battle Tottenham for Jamie Gittens as Spurs are plotting an 'audacious' summer move for the Borussia Dortmund winger, according to a report.

The England youth international has played himself into the spotlight this season with his much-improved performances for Dortmund. To be sure, Gittens has always been highly rated, but this term he has been relatively free of injuries and has performed with more consistency.

While still not a completely reliable player, the 20-year-old has shown immense promise in what has to date been a horrendous campaign for the Black and Yellow, who languish in 11th in the Bundesliga.

Gittens has been one of Dortmund's rare positives, notching 11 goals and five assists in 33 games across all competitions. Given that he would be a homegrown for Premier League clubs, scores of English sides are keenly watching his development.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and especially Chelsea have been linked with the youngster in recent months, but Dortmund were unwilling to entertain a January sale and slapped a prohibitive €100 million price tag on his head.

Spurs rival Chelsea for Gittens

The summer window could be different, even more so if the Bundesliga giants miss out on Champions League football. Gittens could then be sold, although recent reports have claimed that Dortmund would still demand an inflated €80m.

Either way, Gittens will be one to watch in the summer, with Chelsea desperately keen to add a left-winger amid the uncertain future of Mykhailo Mudryk and the increasingly worrying form of Jadon Sancho.

However, Chelsea will not have a free run at the attacker as The Sun claims that Tottenham are also plotting an 'audacious summer move' for the former Man City academy starlet.

The report does not provide much information on Spurs' pursuit, but it is clear that Ange Postecoglou's side need reinforcements. Captain and starting left-winger Heung Min-son has struggled to consistently show his best form this season and the 32-year-old is not getting any younger.

The injury-hit North London club are enduring a difficult campaign and climbed from 15th to 12th in the Premier League table thanks to their win over an even worse Man Utd at the weekend.
