Liverpool are fully entering the race to sign highly-rated Norwegian talent Sverre Nypan, as they look to strengthen their squad with one of Europe’s most promising young midfielders.

The Reds have been tracking the Rosenborg starlet for some time and are eager to beat a host of other interested sides, including Arsenal, to his signature.

According to FootballTransfers sources, Liverpool have already expressed a strong interest in the 18-year-old sensation.

The Merseyside club are determined to secure a deal for the 18-year-old Nypan, whose rapid rise in Norway has caught the attention of Europe’s elite.

It had been expected that he would decide his future in January, but while that has been postponed, the player’s father confirmed the teenager expects to make a decision before the summer.

“We know the clubs interest in Sverre. It’s been very important. It’s not been interesting to be a pawn in a big game,” he told VG.

“The clubs that are very interested are also very understanding of this choice and think it is completely okay. Sverre should be part of a long-term project and a generational change.

“He hasn't played a game since the first of December. When he signs in the summer and hopefully has been injury-free, he will be at his best. It is much better to show him off with that starting point.

“We are not going to wait until the summer window opens to make a decision.”

Manchester United, Aston Villa and Getafe have all been linked with the player too.

Why Nypan is so highly rated

Nypan, who broke into Rosenborg’s first team in 2022, has already amassed 60 senior appearances and has been directly involved in 24 goals. This production has led to him being compared to Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard.

His versatility, technical ability, and composure in midfield make him an ideal fit for Arne Slot's system. Liverpool’s scouting department has identified him as a player with immense potential, and they believe he could be a key asset for the club’s future.
