According to FR, Frankfurt want to maximise their return on the Sweden international star and placed a €60 million price tag on his head.

Bundesliga expert Ronan Murphy says that Larsson is simply not worth that money and would have to be considered a gamble at that price.

“He’s not proven himself to be worth €60m yet,” he explained. “He may well be at some stage, but that’s projecting future ability.

“It would be like paying €60m for Ansu Fati when he first broke through at Barcelona or the same price now for Evan Ferguson.”

Larsson is a player who seems to have it all for the heart of the field, where he operates as a No.6 or 8. He is quick, tireless, technically strong and has the intelligence to take up dangerous positions. In the dressing room, he is described as ‘likeable and smart’.

Eintracht have already tied him down to an extended contract that runs until 2029. Crucially, there’s no release clause, so the Bundesliga outfit have full control over his transfer.

Larsson an expensive gamble

With the bidding set to be opened at €60m, Arsenal, whose interest in the player has been confirmed, and Liverpool would be advised to look elsewhere.

According to FootballTransfers’ unique algorithm, which calculates the value of players based on thousands of in-game data points, Larsson is worth only €21.6m. This valuation has stayed stable over the course of the last year, with his value in March 2024 €22.5m.

Admittedly, he has been hampered by injuries over this period, but that is simply another reason why Frankfurt’s extravagant asking price would be a game for the Premier League giants.

Data firm SciSports believes that Larsson has the potential to become a regular starter for Arsenal or Liverpool at the peak of his powers, but this ceiling doesn’t scream for either club to make an investment three times the current value of the versatile midfielder.

The Premier League pair are being played by Eintracht, and at the price on offer should veer away from Larsson for now.
