Key Liverpool star 'flattered' by Real Madrid interest

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has admitted that he is 'flattered' to be associated with clubs like Real Madrid and PSG.
The France international has recently become the subject of renewed speculation. In an interview with Telefoot, Konate has stated that he is currently enjoying the best season of his career and some of Europe's biggest clubs seem to agree.
It has been claimed in the past few days that Real Madrid and PSG are keeping an eye on the 25-year-old with a view to a potential transfer in the future. Konate, who hails from Paris, had previously been linked with PSG and subsequently revealed that he would love to play for his hometown club.

However, Fabrizio Romano has been insisting for months that Konate is due to extend his Liverpool contract before long, which casts doubt on an impending move away. Similarly, GFFN has reported that the fresh transfer links are 'unfounded' as things stand.
Still, Konate is making no secret of the fact that he is honoured to be linked with other European giants.

In the above-mentioned interview with Telefoot, the centre-back was quizzed about the speculation and said: "To hear big clubs like that are showing interest in me is very flattering! Now I’m focussing on this season, giving it my all and I’ll let my agents take care of the rest.”
Konate also spoke about a potential return to Paris, albeit as a Liverpool player in the Champions League, with the Reds potentially facing PSG in the round of 16.

"It would be fantastic for me personally because I come from there, my parents and family live there, all my friends are there. I grew up with people in Leipzig, and when it was Leipzig-PSG, they supported PSG instead of supporting me, even though I grew up with them!”
