Interest in the Netherlands star has been present from the Saudi Pro League has been evident for weeks, but now there are more clubs tracking the 33-year-old, TBR Football claims.

It is a development in Van Dijk’s case that is said to have “alarm bells starting to ring” at Liverpool, who are eager to tie the player down to a new contract.

Previously, interest in Van Dijk was thought to largely come from developing markets, such as the Saudi Pro League or MLS, but now the player’s entourage are being told that there could be an opportunity for the veteran to have one last dance at a major European club.

Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are all following the player’s situation.

Should Van Dijk decide to leave Liverpool, all these clubs are ready to hold contract negotiations with the player, whose hand while discussing new terms with the Reds is strengthened by this news.

Van Dijk to stay at Liverpool?

There is a general feeling that Van Dijk will ultimately sign a new contract with Liverpool, who he joined in 2018.

This is not necessarily the case with the Reds’ two other major stars who are set for free agency when their deals run out in the summer.

Mo Salah appears ready to move to Saudi Arabia, where Al-Hilal are the frontrunners to sign the Egypt international star, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is destined for Real Madrid.

Van Dijk’s situation is less clear, with the announcement of interest from these European giants going someway to further complicate Liverpool’s situation.
