INEOS are reportedly tired of hearing about Manchester United’s past glories under Sir Alex Ferguson and some members of staff blame the legendary manager for their current struggles.

The Red Devils have only picked up eight wins in 26 Premier League games so far this season and they are languishing down in 15th place in the English top flight table following a dreadful run of form under Ruben Amorim.

Over €2 billion has been spent on new signings since Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, but Man Utd have failed to win the Premier League title during that time and they are on course for their worst finishing position in 51 years.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already sanctioned 250 redundancies since his arrival and a further 200 staff are reportedly set to be laid off during an employee meeting on Monday.

Meanwhile, Man Utd have racked up €621 million worth of debt, according to The Mirror, and several INEOS members reportedly blame Ferguson for the Red Devils’ recent decline due to his failure to embrace modern coaching and scouting developments.

Sir Alex Ferguson blamed by INEOS

A Man Utd insider told The Mirror: “INEOS want absolutely nothing to do with the past. They don’t want to hear how things were done when United were winning 13 Premier League titles and they won’t accept any suggestion that lessons can be learned from when the club’s greatest-ever manager was in charge.

“It’s all very well drawing a line under the last 12 years and saying ‘let’s move on.’ But it’s become an obsession not to mention the period when United were one of the best teams in Europe.”

In addition, Ferguson has been informed that his €3m-per-year contract to act as a club ambassador will be terminated this summer as INEOS look to take Man Utd back to the top of European football.
