Casemiro has confirmed his desire to remain at Manchester United until his contract expires in 2026.

The Brazil midfielder has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford exit this summer, amid his lack of game time under Ruben Amorim, but he has admitted that he wants to stay at the club for an additional 12 months.

Casemiro has only started four Premier League matches since Amorim’s arrival from Sporting CP, however he has insisted that he remains happy in England.

“Above all, I respect Manchester United, a club to which I'm very grateful,” the 32-year-old said during an interview with Spanish outlet AS.

“I have a year and a half left on my contract and I'd like to fulfil it here in Manchester.

“I'm comfortable here and so is my family. They've adapted, we speak English. I'm very grateful to the Old Trafford fans and to the club. I'm happy at club level.”

Casemiro also claimed that his first season at Man Utd was the best of his entire playing career.

“Looking at my career, individually, my best season as a professional footballer was the first with Man Utd,” Casemiro admitted.

“I'm not saying collectively in terms of titles. Real Madrid's Champions League is the ultimate, but as a player I think Old Trafford saw the best version of Casemiro in my first year.”

Paul Pogba to rejoin Man Utd?

Casemiro’s admission that he wants to stay at Man Utd comes following rumours suggesting that Paul Pogba could return to the club for a third time.

The Frenchman is currently without a club, after leaving Juventus late last year, and he is able to return to competitive action in March when his doping ban ends.

Pogba is arguably the most high-profile free agent currently available in world football and given Man Utd’s current injury crisis, he could be signed on a short-term deal to help ease the club’s woes.
