Man Utd's No.9 answer? Harry Kane's release clause revealed
Harry Kane's contract at Bayern Munich surprisingly contains a release clause, according to German media.
Release clauses are an interesting topic at Bayern. For a long time, it was an unwritten rule in Munich that no players were to have termination clauses in their contracts as it was deemed 'beneath' Bayern to make such a significant concession.
However, times are changing and Jamal Musiala has been insisting on a release clause in his contract talks with Bayern in recent weeks and months. An agreement is close and his new deal is expected to contain just such an arrangement.

Intriguingly, BILD now reports that Musiala will not be the first Bayern player in recent memory - or potentially ever - with a release clause because record signing Harry Kane has had one since he joined the club for €100 million in 2023.
Harry Kane's release clause
Fortunately for Bayern fans, it is not as simple a case as a club turning up and agreeing to match his price to sign him immediately. Instead, suitors will have to approach Kane during the January window to provide the money for a summer move.
With the fee deposited, the England star would then inform Bayern of his intention to trigger the clause and leave in the subsequent window. In the bygone January period, his clause was worth €80m, but Kane had no intention of leaving as he is settled in Munich.
However, he will be available again next January. The German outlet was unable to corroborate the exact sum but estimates that his price in the winter of 2026 will be €65m.
Man Utd have a historic interest in Kane and former manager Erik ten Hag never made a secret of the fact that he had wanted the Tottenham legend. The club's No9 problem persists under Ruben Amorim, who benched both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee at the weekend.

A move for Kane, who will be 33 by the time the 2026/27 season rolls around, would be uncharacteristic of the new INEOS regime but it would be a typical transfer for the previous one.
Man Utd, of course, will do everything in their power to solve their issues in the summer, but if they once again fail to land their desired targets, they could do worse than to pursue a move for Kane next January.
The veteran striker is still under contract at Bayern until 2027.
