CONFIRMED: Amorim picks Rashford’s Man Utd replacement and makes a bid

Manchester United are already preparing for life without Marcus Rashford, with Ruben Amorim’s side having lodged an offer for a replacement forward.

United are close to agreeing a loan move that will see Rashford head to Aston Villa with a purchase option for the Birmingham club.

This will free up a spot in Amorim’s squad for an additional forward player, and the Portuguese head coach already knows who that will be.

Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel has been linked with a string of clubs in recent days but United have now made a verbal offer for the 19-year-old, who is determined to leave the Allianz Arena after being pushed to one side by head coach Vincent Kompany. He has not played a minute in FCB’s last three Bundesliga games and was not included in their squad to face Holstein Kiel on Saturday.

Now United have lodged a verbal offer for the striker, according to Sky Sports.

“Man Utd contacted Bayern and talks have been ongoing ever since, with negotiations already under way,” Florian Plettenberg confirms.

“At this stage, there is no full agreement between Man Utd and Tel.”

Mathys Tel: Deal depends on Rashford exit

Tel will only join Man Utd once Rashford leaves the club, Sky reports.

“United have always been in a position during this window of having to facilitate a departure before bringing anyone in.

“It’s thought Tel is open to the move, after rejecting the chance to go to Tottenham Hotspur.

“Man United are aware that there are other clubs in the Premier League and Europe interested in Tel.”

Complicating the story further is the fact that Aston Villa are one of those other clubs following the fortunes of Tel. Indeed, Sky reports they even made a call regarding the player on Saturday morning, indicating that they are not confident that a deal with Rashford will be finalised.

On top of this, reports in France state that Villa are also looking at Nice striker Evann Guessand.

All of this is pushing Man Utd to send Rashford to Villa, with options for the England international quickly running out as the transfer deadline draws near.
