Amorim gives up on €74m Man Utd flop as BIZARRE transfer link emerges

Leeds United are interested in Manchester United forward Ramus Hojlund, according to a report.

The Denmark international has proved to be a major disappointment since his €74 million move from Atalanta in 2023. His debut season at Old Trafford was still encouraging, but things have taken a turn for the worse since.

Injury problems and a dreadful run of form recently led to him losing his place in Ruben Amorim's side, with the Portuguese head coach electing to play Kobbie Mainoo over his misfiring strikers.

He won't have that luxury anymore, with Mainoo one of a host of players currently out injured. It remains to be seen if Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee can impress or if they will be supplanted by in-form teenage striker Chido Obi-Martin.

Given that Man Utd need to raise funds in the summer, there have been suggestions that they could look to offload Hojlund and he has now become the subject of a bizarre transfer link.

Hojlund to...Leeds?

Ontheminute claims that Championship side and Man Utd's bitter rivals Leeds United hold an interest in the Dane. Head coach Daniel Farke is said to be a fan of Hojlund and believes that he can unlock his obvious potential.

Leeds are battling to return to the Premier League for next season and are aiming to reclaim top spot from Sheffield United when they play Sunderland on Monday.

The report acknowledges the unlikely nature of this transfer and states that Leeds could only possibly think about a move for Hojlund if they get promoted.

Man Utd and Leeds are historic rivals and there is no love lost between the two fanbases. However, that hasn't prevented the two clubs from doing business with each other. In 2021, Dan James left Man Utd to join Leeds for around €29 million.

Man Utd are 'open' to summer offers for Hojlund and the report claims that around €50m could be enough to get the Red Devils to sell.
