Amorim tells Man Utd to sign €42m teen: Rashford and Antony to be sacrificed

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has told his bosses at Old Trafford to go all-out to sign Giovany Quenda from Sporting CP.
Amorim handed Quenda his first-team debut earlier this season before moving to Manchester United and, according to the Daily Star, has told his superiors that they must launch a bid worth €42 million (£34m) to sign the teenage prospect.

The young star turns 18 on 30 April and will become eligible for transfer abroad at that point, meaning he is a legitimate target for United to strengthen their side during the summer.
Quenda featured primarily on the right side of Amorim’s 3-4-3 system at Sporting, though has played primarily as a left winger since the Portuguese head coach departed the Lisbon side, underlining his versatility.
If he were to move to United, it is likely that Amorim would ask him to revert to the right flank, having already added Patrick Dorgu in January to strengthen the left.

Amorim has already held talks with the Man Utd hierarchy and indicated what players he wants the club to target in the summer. Quenda was said to be at the top of the list.
The youngster is held in such high regard that the Portuguese is willing to sell both Marcus Rashford and Antony, who have made promising starts on loan at Aston Villa and Real Betis respectively, in order to be able to sign the teenager.
Quenda, meanwhile, aligns perfectly with Man Utd’s idea of signing promising young talent and nurturing it to become star quality rather than buying ready-made players for a premium price.
Quenda to Man Utd: Rumours for months
Quenda is a player who has been closely associated with the Red Devils since Amorim’s move.
Reports in Portugal claimed that Man Utd had already agreed to a deal to sign Quenda in January, while the latest rumours are that personal terms are already agreed with the Sporting player and that only a transfer fee needs to be thrashed out.
What is clear is that Amorim admires the player greatly and would love to have him at Old Trafford.
