One more year! Man Utd suffer blow as belligerent star refuses to leave

Ruben Amorim’s first summer transfer window at Manchester United promises to be made more complicated by Casemiro, who is sticking to his guns and refusing to leave.
Casemiro is set to be one of the big losers under Amorim, whose 3-4-3 system requires his midfield players to cover a vast amount of ground.
FABRIZIO ROMANO TRANSFER UPDATE: Man Utd star’s 'different direction' as Real Madrid OBSESSION revealed
Although a player who is still capable of turning in world-class displays at 33, these have become increasingly rare for the former Real Madrid man, whose influence has been on the wane since Amorim took command at Old Trafford in November.
When he does play, his lack of mobility is often highlighted as a weakness in Man Utd’s performances and, as such, there is a widespread acceptance that this should be his last season at the club. This is particularly the case given that the Red Devils need to sell before they buy in the summer due to their position with regards to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

No interest in expensive Casemiro
Amorim is set to run into a long-term Casemiro-sized problem at Old Trafford, with the veteran midfield star refusing to accept a transfer unless his extravagant salary demands are met, TeamTalk reports.
With the Brazil international not backing down over his wages – he is estimated to earn €420,000 (£350,000) per week at Man Utd currently – no club has shown a concrete interest in signing him.
It had been hoped that a Saudi Pro League side would move for the experienced player, yet even here no action has been taken.
Casemiro has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €11.6 million, and even if United back down on demanding such a fee, this will naturally reduce the funds open to Amorim in pursuit of his own signings, which it is amply clear the club needs.
The midfielder is under contract with Man Utd until June 2026 and it appears that he is willing to wait it out at Old Trafford despite the prospect of limited playing time under the Portuguese.
