The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a Molineux exit over the past few months, but after speculation over a possible winter transfer, he signed a new contract at the club on 1 February.

Cunha’s new deal with Vitor Pereira’s side runs until 2029, however he could still leave Wolves this summer.

The Daily Mail have confirmed that Cunha has a €74m release clause in his new contract at Wolves, which can be activated by any club in world football.

The report also claims that Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs monitoring Cunha’s situation at Molineux.

The 25-year-old has scored 11 goals and provided four assists in 23 Premier League games so far this season and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has risen to a career high of €59.1m following his impressive start to the campaign.

In addition to the clubs mentioned, Manchester United have also previously been linked with a move for Cunha and could feasibly rekindle their interest in the Wolves star if Marcus Rashford leaves Old Trafford on a permanent deal this summer.

Matheus Cunha to Chelsea?

Chelsea’s reported interest in Cunha comes after Joao Felix’s loan move to AC Milan on Transfer Deadline Day.

The Portugal international only started three Premier League matches following his arrival from Atletico Madrid and he could leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal if his temporary spell at Milan goes to plan.

Christopher Nkunku may also be sold by Chelsea this summer, amid interest from Bayern Munich, and the Blues could turn to Cunha if the France international departs later this year.

However, it remains to be seen if Cunha would be deployed as a centre forward, an attacking midfielder or a winger if a move to Chelsea takes place in 2025.
