Manchester United sent scouts to watch Victor Osimhen in action for Galatasaray on Monday night as they intensify their pursuit of the Nigeria international.

Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli and he is widely expected to secure a permanent transfer during the upcoming summer window, amid significant interest from a host of top clubs.

Chelsea are long-term admirers of the 26-year-old, although Enzo Maresca’s side are also interested in signing Ipswich Town star Liam Delap and their pursuit of Osimhen has quietened down over the past few months.

Man Utd, on the other hand, have reportedly identified the Nigerian as their primary transfer target for 2025 and they sent scouts to watch him face Rizespor on Monday, according to talkSPORT.

The Red Devils won’t have been disappointed either as Osimhen scored a brace during a 2-1 win for Galatasaray to take his goal tally to 19 for the campaign.

Despite significant interest in the 26-year-old, Man Utd will need to match his €240,000 per week wage demands, while his desire to play in the Champions League could also prove to be a huge stumbling block for the Red Devils.

Ruben Amorim’s side are currently languishing down in 15th place in the Premier League table and they are extremely unlikely to secure European football of any kind unless they win the Europa League.

Man Utd want Victor Osimhen

Man Utd’s interest in Osimhen comes amid the worrying recent form of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

The pair have only scored a combined five Premier League goals so far this season and Kobbie Mainoo was even selected as a centre forward against Crystal Palace in early February, despite both Hojlund and Zirkzee being available.

Osimhen reportedly has a release clause worth €75 million in his Napoli contract, which means he could become Man Utd’s sixth-most expensive player of all time if he secures a summer move to Old Trafford.
