Arsenal are 'hot' for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, according to German media.

The Frenchman is enjoying a brilliant season despite a brief slump following the departure of his partner in crime, Omar Marmoush. Ekitike has been forced to pick up the scraps by himself and he is doing exceedingly well.

The 22-year-old has been a man reborn since leaving PSG for Frankfurt. Ekitike has posted 19 goals and eight assists across all competitions for the club so far this season. He also netted a brilliant hat-trick for France's U21s against England last week.

Surprisingly, Frankfurt fully expect to sell Ekitike this summer despite the loss of Marmoush and the tremendous funds his sale generated. Ekitike is keen to take his next step and Frankfurt won't turn down another huge payday.

Accordingly, they have slapped a whopping €80 million price tag on the France international's head, although it remains to be seen if they will receive that much. One thing is for sure, though, Ekitike has no shortage of suitors.

Arsenal join Ekitike race

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with Man Utd in recent days and weeks, but the Red Devils are mired in financial - and sporting - problems and will struggle to match Frankfurt's demands.

BILD now claims that it is not Man Utd but Arsenal who are particularly 'hot' for Ekitike as they look to finally sign that elite striker who can fire them to Premier League success.

It is unclear whether Arsenal are willing to pay €80m for Ekitike, but given that long-time target Benjamin Sesko has the same price tag, the Gunners likely accept that they will have to fork out a hefty sum to sign a No.9 this summer.

Frankfurt already have a replacement for Ekitike in mind as they want to bring in Jonathan Burkardt from local rivals Mainz. The Germany international was also recently linked with a surprising move to Man Utd.
