Arsenal have reportedly developed “strong interest” in Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres as they look to bring a new centre forward to the club this summer.

Gyokeres, 26, has been on the Gunners’ radar for the best part of a year, and FootballTransfers understands that Mikel Arteta’s side remain in contact with the Sweden international ahead of the upcoming window.

We have also been informed that RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is a top target for Arsenal, while Newcastle United superstar Alexander Isak is viewed as a potential solution, albeit a very expensive one.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now confirmed Arsenal’s interest in Gyokeres, with the Sweden striker “a more prominent candidate than he might have been in the past.”

Sesko is also wanted by a number of other Premier League clubs and Newcastle are expected to demand a ludicrous fee in order to part ways with Isak. As a result, Arsenal are now eyeing a move for Gyokeres following the appointment of Andrea Berta as their new sporting director.

But, if Gyokeres does move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, how will he fit in?

How Arsenal would line up with Viktor Gyokeres

Despite Arsenal’s pursuit of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, David Raya will keep his place in between the sticks following his impressive first permanent season at the club.

Jurrien Timber and Benjamin White are expected to battle it out for a starting place at right-back, but the former may just win out due to his eye-catching recent form.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes will remain at centre-back, while Myles Lewis-Skelly is set to keep Riccardo Calafiori on the substitutes bench.

The signing of Martin Zubimendi is yet to be confirmed, however Arsenal have been widely tipped to purchase the Spain international and he is expected to slot into defensive midfield amid the uncertain future of Thomas Partey.

He will be flanked by the reliable pair of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli providing width. Nico Williams would likely replace Martinelli if he joins Arsenal this summer, although they are set to face significant competition in the race to sign him.

Meanwhile, Gyokeres will displace both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as Arsenal’s starting striker.
