The 53-year-old was appointed as the USMNT’s new head coach back in September, four months after the mutual termination of his contract at Chelsea, but he has now admitted that a move back to Spurs could be on the cards.

Pochettino joined Tottenham in 2014, following a successful stint at Southampton, and he enjoyed an impressive five-year spell with the club, guiding them to a second-place finish during the 2016-17 Premier League season and taking them to the 2019 Champions League final.

The Argentine was then sacked in November 2019, after a poor start to the campaign, and he subsequently spent time in charge of Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, before foraying into international management with the USA.

However, Pochettino has now revealed his desire to secure a move back to Spurs in the future.

“Look, when I left the club I always remember one interview I said I would like one day to come back to Tottenham and that is of course," Pochettino told Sky Sports.

“I am in the USA, I'm not going to talk about that, but what I said then still after six years or five years, I still feel in my heart that, yes, I would like one day to come back. We see the timing, like Daniel [Levy] said.”

While Pochettino is eager to return to Tottenham, a move back to Chelsea is extremely unlikely to happen.

The Argentine endured a tough campaign at the helm in west London, with Chelsea languishing in mid-table obscurity for months, until a late charge saw them finish in sixth place.

A large majority of Blues fans were eager for him to be sacked at various points during his time in charge, and Clearlake Capital eventually opted to part ways with Pochettino after just one year.
