The Blues have the “intention” of bringing Carlo Ancelotti back to the club in the summer – if the Italian is fired from his head coach role at Real Madrid a report from Fichajes states.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is under pressure after a poor run of form that has thrown the club’s ability to qualify for the Champions League next season into doubt.

Although the Blues are currently on a four-match winning streak, they have faced a succession of easy opponents and their mettle will be better tested in their next fixtures against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, which come either side of the international break.

Maresca finds his place at Stamford Bridge under question, just as Ancelotti is sweating over his stay at Real Madrid after four years.

Los Blancos are only second in LaLiga behind Barcelona while they needed a controversial penalty shootout victory to overcome Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.

Chelsea hope for Ancelotti U-turn

Chelsea are following the case of the Italian boss closely and are “willing to present a multi-million pound’ offer to the five-time Champions League winner as a coach.

He previously coached the Premier League giants from 2009-2011, winning the title in his first season.

The Spanish report indicates that the biggest hurdle towards a deal comes from Ancelotti himself, with the 65-year-old expected to retire when he eventually leaves Real Madrid.

Despite this, Chelsea hope to be able to persuade Ancelotti of the merits of a move back to Stamford Bridge due to the sporting project on offer to him and an “irresistible” contract.

Everything, it is claimed, hinges on Ancelotti’s performance at Real Madrid. Equally, Chelsea will not allow Maresca to depart after one season if progress in the squad is evident.
