Romano CONFIRMS Chelsea pursuit of Delap with 'concrete' update

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea are interested in signing Ipswich Town star Liam Delap this summer.
The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the breakout stars of the current Premier League season. Delap was snapped up by Ipswich after impressive Championship loan spells and has taken to top-flight football like a fish to water.

The former Man City prospect has notched 10 goals in 28 Premier League appearances for the struggling Tractor Boys, who are looking like they will be heading straight back down to the second tier at the end of the campaign.
Delap is expected to jump ship this summer and he would have likely moved on even if Ipswich had managed to be more competitive this term such has been his impact.
His next destination remains as yet unclear but several credible sources have described Chelsea as the clear frontrunners for his signature, with the Blues in the market for a striker.

Romano confirms Delap interest
Now, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has provided his information on the situation of Delap. The Italian has confirmed Chelsea hold a genuine interest in the young centre-forward but stressed that numerous clubs as chasing him and that no 'concrete' talks have as yet taken place.
"He’s on Chelsea's list for sure, let’s see if more clubs join or not," Romano told GIVEMESPORT. "All Premier League clubs looking for a striker are monitoring him but at the moment [there is] nothing concrete yet."

Should Chelsea decide to proceed with a move for Delap, substantial updates on the situation may not be long in coming despite the current lack of genuine talks.
On Sunday, it was revealed that Chelsea are planning to get all of their main summer transfer business under wraps before the end of June due to the Club World Cup. With the acquisition of a striker one of their top priorities, a move for Delap may be on the cards soon.
