Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens is a wanted man, with the young Englishman coveted by a string of Premier League giants including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Gittens’ margin for progression is enormous. Although he has not been at the peak of his powers in recent weeks, he has the capacity to exceed Nico Williams, who himself is expected to be one of the big stories of the summer transfer window.

The Dortmund star is having a breakthrough season, which has fuelled rumours of a €100 million transfer. With 11 goals and four assists across all competitions, the 20-year-old winger has been an eye-catching presence, although there is a belief that he will more realistically move for a fee in the €60-70m bracket.

Jamie Gittens: Why Arsenal are Dortmund star's best option

Ahead of the summer, it’s clear that Arsenal offer Gittens the best pathway to superstardom, according to data analytics experts SciSports.

Arsenal come out on top when an analysis of Gittens’ options are run, with the North London side earning a Club Fit score of 74. This mark is generated using predictions based around a number of different factors, including the player’s potential development and playing time at a given club, plus the style and formation the team works in.

The Gunners score five stars when it comes to development for Gittens, making them the outstanding choice in this regard along with Inter Milan and Liverpool. The Reds could provide competition for the London side, according to Sky Germany, who also report interest from Tottenham Hotspur as well as Chelsea and Man Utd.

Mikel Arteta’s side, though, score higher both in terms of style and formation for the England U21 star, making them the outstanding choice.

By contrast, Manchester United earn a score of just 61, let down by the development opportunities they can give Gittens.

Chelsea sit on 60. The Blues’ formation suits him perfectly, but in terms of development, style and even playing time, Stamford Bridge is not seen as the optimum destination.

Indeed, if Gittens were to move elsewhere in the Premier League, Aston Villa (72) and Newcastle (68) are the best options.

Arsenal, though, stand clear as the best home for the up-and-coming star.
