Newcastle in €110m Liverpool deal as Darwin Nunez decision made

Newcastle United are targeting a summer transfer raid on Liverpool that could total more than €110 million, with a final decision made on signing Darwin Nunez, according to a report.
Nunez is liable to be on the market in the weeks ahead after a disappointing campaign at Anfield. The Uruguay striker has frustrated fans with his erratic finishing and has only seven goals in all competitions.
Arne Slot has not shown the willingness to persist with the 25-year-old in the manner that predecessor Jurgen Klopp did, and it now appears that Nunez will leave Liverpool if a suitable buyer can be found.
That will not be Newcastle, according to Give Me Sport, which indicated that the Magpies are looking at two alternative forward players based at Anfield.
Jota and Elliott emerge as Newcastle targets
Newcastle want to sign Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott, with Magpies boss Eddie Howe said to admire both players.
A part-exchange deal for Alexander Isak has been suggested, with Liverpool ready to step up their advances for the in-form Sweden striker as they seek a world-class No.9 who might compensate for the potential departure of Mohamed Salah as a free agent.
Newcastle’s plan, though, is not to allow Isak to leave, so another solution will need to be found if they are to plunder Jota and Elliott from Anfield.
The pair will not come cheap. Jota has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €59m while Elliott is worth €48m, suggesting that something in the region of €110m will be required to sign the pair.

On the plus side for Newcastle, Liverpool are likely to be open to selling the pair.
Both appeared on a five-strong list of players, published by Florian Plettenberg, that the Reds could sell in the summer that also includes Caoimhin Kelleher, Wataru Endo and Federico Chiesa.
Surprisingly, Nunez did not appear among this number, but the signs are the Uruguay striker will not be going to Newcastle.
