The Reds are expected to sign several new players ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, as they look to bolster the squad at Slot’s disposal, but a number of current stars could be offloaded in order to raise transfer funds.

Below, FootballTransfers runs through five players who could leave Liverpool this summer.

Darwin Nunez

Slot has criticised Darwin Nunez on a few occasions so far this season and a summer exit could well be on the cards amid significant interest from the Saudi Pro League.

The Uruguay international has been a major disappointment since his €85 million arrival from Benfica, and Liverpool may look to cut their losses this summer.

Alexander Isak and Joao Pedro have both been linked with an Anfield switch, and the Reds could be forced to offload Nunez in order to sign a new striker.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah is on course for the best individual campaign of his entire career, but it may be his last at Liverpool.

The Egypt international has been frankly unstoppable during the 2024-25 season, however his contract is due to expire this summer and extension talks are yet to result in a new deal.

Salah could end up signing fresh terms at Anfield, but clubs in Saudi Arabia are extremely interested and he may opt to secure an extremely lucrative contract in the Middle East.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid have identified Trent Alexander-Arnold as their priority target for the 2025 summer transfer window as they search for a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

As a result, the England international could be set to leave his boyhood club when his current deal runs out at the end of June.

Alexander-Arnold could yet sign an extension, however a prospective move to Real Madrid may prove too good to reject.

Virgil van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk is the third and final high-profile name who could depart Liverpool on a free transfer this summer.

The Netherlands star has been tipped to extend his spell at Anfield, although an official agreement hasn’t yet been reached and he is therefore set to leave the club as things stand.

Van Dijk remains one of the best defenders in world football and there will be no shortage of suitors if he does end up becoming a free agent this summer.

Luis Diaz

Luiz Diaz has been touted to secure a surprise Liverpool exit this summer and the Colombian could be sold as Slot looks to revamp his attacking roster.

Diaz has been linked with a number of top European clubs over the past year and despite his form at Anfield, a departure could be on the cards in 2025.

His contract is due to expire in 2027 and a sale may be required to avoid losing him for a cut-price fee next summer.
