In addition to Man Utd, Chelsea are also in the market for a new goalkeeper, following the woes of Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen this campaign, and they have identified AC Milan superstar Mike Maignan as a key target, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Djordje Petrovic has enjoyed a successful loan stint at Strasbourg, and will return to Stamford Bridge this summer, but Chelsea are reportedly set to challenge Aston Villa for Maignan’s signature once the 2024-25 season concludes.

The 29-year-old’s current contract at Milan is set to expire in 2026 and the Serie A giants are therefore open to a sale if they receive an offer worth €40 million.

With Onana possibly set to leave Man Utd this summer, the Red Devils are expected to sign a new goalkeeper ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

James Trafford (Burnley), Lucas Chevalier (Lille), Anthony Patterson (Sunderland), Senne Lammens (Royal Antwerp) and Joan Garcia (Espanyol) have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, with the club ramping up their pursuit of a new shot-stopper.

Man Utd may even be forced to sign two goalkeepers this summer, with Tom Heaton set to depart on a free transfer when his current contract expires in July and Altay Bayindir tipped to return to Turkey.
