Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha amid concerns over Kobbie Mainoo’s long-term future at Old Trafford.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in recent months and Ruben Amorim’s side are reportedly “planning” on offloading their academy graduate in order to raise funds for Victor Osimhen.

However, the Red Devils will need to sign at least one new central midfielder if Mainoo leaves, with Christian Eriksen also set to depart, and they have identified Nmecha as a key target.

That is according to German publication Bild, who report that Man Utd are prepared to submit a €48 million bid for the Borussia Dortmund star as they look to bring him to Old Trafford during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Nmecha initially struggled upon his move to the Signal Iduna Park in 2023, but he has established himself as a key player so far this season, and his form has reportedly attracted significant interest from Man Utd.

However, Dortmund view the 24-year-old as a key player for the future and they are eager to retain his services. Despite this, Nmecha, a former Manchester City youth product, has been tipped to push for a transfer if the club fail to achieve European qualification, which could aid Man Utd’s pursuit this summer.

Man Utd eye Bundesliga raid

In addition to Nmecha, Man Utd are also targeting three other Bundesliga stars, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

RB Leipzig duo Benjamin Sesko and Xavi Simons are both reportedly on the Red Devils’ radar, while they are also monitoring the impressive form of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike.

However, Man Utd are expected to face significant competition in their bid to sign Sesko and Ekitike, with Arsenal and Chelsea both eager to land the former, and Liverpool and Newcastle United scouting the latter.
