Man Utd's Plan B and C: Two wonderkids pursued after transfer humiliation

Manchester United are pursuing Roger Fernandes and Tyler Dibling after missing out on Geovany Quenda.
The Red Devils were left with egg on their face as Chelsea swooped to sign Sporting CP wonderkid Quenda in the early hours of Friday morning. A secret medical already took place and a seven-year deal was agreed starting from 2026.
The 17-year-old had been Man Utd's top target for the right wing-back position. In Ruben Amorim, they had a crucial advantage and Quenda was keen on reuniting with his former Sporting boss.

However, the club's financial problems made it impossible to agree a deal this early in the year, allowing Chelsea to pounce. Man Utd are now forced to pursue different options.

Man Utd want Dibling and Fernandes
According to CaughtOffside, Man Utd remain interested in Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling. They were heavily linked with the 19-year-old before Amorim was appointed, with talk of a move subsequently going rather quiet.
The Portuguese does not utilise traditional wingers, so there would be major question marks over Dibling's suitability to the 40-year-old's system. However, the England youth international is expected to be attainable as Southampton are set to get relegated.

A player more suited to Amorim's style is Roger Fernandes. It was recently revealed that Man Utd's scouts have been impressed with the Braga teenager and journalist Shaun Connolly reports that the club feel a deal could be struck.
Man Utd's January deal for Patrick Dorgu is viewed as a point of reference regarding the potential signing of Roger. The Red Devils feel a similar package to the €30 million to €35m that was paid for the Dane could be enough to reach an agreement.
Connolly states that Roger has been on the club's radar for months and that he has long since been seen as a viable alternative to Quenda. The 19-year-old has played as a traditional full-back, a wing-back and a winger in Portugal.
