The Barcelona legend has been out of work since leaving Camp Nou in 2024, but he has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford amid the Red Devils’ recent struggles under Amorim.

Xavi is reportedly one of several head coaches being considered by INEOS, as the Man Utd hierarchy ponder a potential managerial change this summer, and he is set to demand two key signings if he agrees a deal with the 13-time Premier League champions.

That is according to Spanish outlet El Nacional, who claim that Xavi will request the signings of Barcelona pair De Jong and Araujo.

Xavi is reportedly “attracted” by the possibility of joining Man Utd later this year and he has even resumed talks with Sir Jim Ratcliffe ahead of a potential move this summer.

De Jong and Araujo have both been tipped to join Man Utd over the past few years, but Xavi has formally requested the club to finalise a deal for the Barcelona duo if he takes over at Old Trafford, as per El Nacional.

Man Utd’s summer transfer plans

Although Xavi is reportedly eager for Man Utd to sign De Jong and Araujo, the Red Devils are expected to prioritise the signing of a new centre forward this summer.

Rasmus Hojlund is without a goal in his last 18 appearances across all competitions and Man Utd are pushing to complete a deal for Victor Osimhen ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window.

The Nigeria international is currently on loan at Galatasaray, but he is set to leave Napoli on a permanent deal once the 2024-25 campaign ends, with Man Utd poised to battle Arsenal for his signature.
