Man Utd launch Jose Mourinho scouting mission

Manchester United have reportedly sent scouts to watch Yusuf Akcicek in action during Fenerbahce’s Europa League round of 16 first-leg clash against Rangers on Thursday evening.
The 19-year-old has made 13 appearances for Fenerbahce’s senior team so far this season and he has been included in the starting XI in each of their last four Europa League matches.

Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho recently named Akcicek on the bench against Antalyaspor, with Tottenham Hotspur left disappointed after travelling to watch him play, but the teenager is expected to start versus Rangers.
His performance will be closely monitored by Man Utd, with INEOS sending scouts to Istanbul in order to watch him in action, according to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.
Akcicek has just over three years remaining on his current Fenerbahce contract, but Man Utd are reportedly keeping close tabs on his progress in Turkey as they ponder a possible pursuit during the 2025 summer transfer window.

Man Utd’s summer transfer plans
In addition to Akcicek, Man Utd are also interested in signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this summer after failing to finalise a deal for the Englishman last year.
However, the 22-year-old is reportedly eager to remain at Goodison Park, despite significant transfer interest from a number of top European clubs, including Real Madrid.
Although a move for Branthwaite appears unlikely as things stand, Man Utd are expected to pursue a deal for either Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres this summer as they attempt to bring a new centre forward to the club following the recent woes of Rasmus Hojlund.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Antony are both set to be sold on permanent deals, Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans will all depart when their contracts expire and Kobbie Mainoo could be offloaded amid his huge salary demands.
