Chelsea will not send Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United this summer, according to a report.

The former England international has shown signs of promise since his loan move to Stamford Bridge last summer, although it is fair to say that Sancho has not set the world alight.

The 24-year-old has notched two goals and six assists in 28 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea so far. As part of the loan agreement with Man Utd, there is a purchase obligation should the Blues finish higher than 15th in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca's side will comfortably achieve this feat, but it was recently claimed that they could yet back out of their deal with the Red Devils. Contrary to common practice, Chelsea did not agree a long-term contract with Sancho prior to his move.

This means that they will have to sit down and negotiate with him again. Failure to agree on terms would allow them to send Sancho back and incur a financial penalty.

Chelsea will sign Sancho permanently

However, according to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are expected to complete the purchase of Sancho and all parties appear content with the deal that was negotiated last summer.

Jacobs has also confirmed that the option for Chelsea to break their obligation does indeed exist, but the sum they would owe Man Utd is an effective deterrent. It is stipulated that they would have to recompense all of Sancho's wages Man Utd have covered this season and then some.

Chelsea could pay up to €30 million to sign Sancho permanently, although the exact fee will depend on their final position at the end of the season.

Jacobs states that Chelsea are pleased with Sancho so far and that it would be a 'surprise' if they were to attempt to send him back to Man Utd.
