Tottenham are optimistic about securing the signing of Tyler Dibling, according to various reports.

The Southampton youngster has been one of the breakout stars of the current Premier League season. A shining light during a historically bad campaign for the Saints, Dibling has put his name firmly on the map.

It therefore comes as no surprise that reports claiming that he will depart St. Mary's in the summer are proliferating. Southampton, for their part, want to tie their homegrown star down to a new contract.

However, talkSPORT claims that the 19-year-old has been left disappointed by the terms offered and is seriously considering jumping ship at the end of the season despite his attachment to the club.

Dibling previously had a brief spell at Chelsea but his failure to settle saw him return to Southampton almost immediately. Leaving a familiar surrounding won't be easy for him, but increasingly looks like a necessary step.

Tottenham favourites to sign Dibling

In the early stages of the season, Dibling was heavily associated with a move to Man Utd. However, the appointment of Ruben Amorim meant that the Red Devils were no longer in need of traditional wingers, so the rumours have disappeared in recent months.

Instead, Tottenham are now the firm favourites to secure his signature in the summer. FootballTransfers exclusively revealed last month that Spurs are seeking to continue their youth revolution and that Dibling has emerged as a main target for them.

Ben Jacobs and talkSPORT have now corroborated our reporting and it is claimed that the North London club are optimistic about their chances of signing the teenager.

Moreover, with relegation certain for Southampton, it is thought highly unlikely that they will be able to stick to their €60 million valuation. In addition to Spurs, Newcastle and Aston Villa are said to be keen on poaching Dibling.
