The 22-year-old is set to be thrown into the deep end by head coach Ruben Amorim as Man Utd's senior goalkeepers are all expected to be out for Sunday evening's clash with former interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy and his Leicester side.

X user Sully_Sayz, who specialises in Man Utd injury and academy news, reports that No.1 goalkeeper Andre Onana fell ill on Friday and will miss the Red Devils' game against the Foxes.

Altay Bayindir has yet to fully recover from his injury, which Amorim simply described as 'a problem' last month, while third-choice Tom Heaton is also not fit to feature on Sunday.

Amorim has had to increasingly rely on young talent at Man Utd in recent weeks and he will once again have to put his faith in an inexperienced player against Leicester.

Who is Dermot Mee?

Dermot Mee is expected to be given the nod over Man Utd's other academy goalkeepers against Leicester. The Manchester outfit also have Elyh Harrison as an option, but 22-year-old Mee will start over the 19-year-old.

Both shot-stoppers made the bench for Man Utd's Europa League clash with Real Sociedad on Thursday. Former Arsenal youngster Hubert Graczyk, also 22, is another goalkeeper on the books at Man Utd.

Mee was born in Birmingham but has represented Northern Ireland at the youth level, playing for his country's U17s, U19s and U21s. He took his first steps in football in Walsall's youth setup before heading to Man Utd in 2015.

The 22-year-old has had several loan spells with lower league sides and Fulham's U18s, but he has regularly trained with the first team this season. His involvement with the senior side has meant that Mee has only made a handful of appearances for Man Utd's reserves this term.

Mee has been on the bench for Man Utd four times in 2024/25, being an unused substitute in the two legs with Real Sociedad and in Premier League outings against Everton and Arsenal. His start against Leicester would mark his senior debut for the Red Devils.
