Arsenal receive Nico Williams update as Chelsea prepare €50m offer

Chelsea are reportedly preparing a €50 million offer for Como winger Assane Diao in a deal that could boost Arsenal’s chances of landing Nico Williams.
Diao, 19, joined Como from Real Betis for €12m during the January transfer window, but he has already been linked with a summer exit following a fantastic start to life in Italy.

The Senegal international has scored eight goals and provided one assist in 15 appearances for Como and his form has attracted fairly significant transfer interest from across Europe, with Manchester United among the clubs monitoring his progress under Cesc Fabregas.
Chelsea have also registered their interest in Diao and they are even prepared to submit a €50m bid in order to land him this summer, according to Fichajes.
The Spanish outlet claims that Chelsea view Diao as a “promising prospect” and they are reportedly expected to intensify their pursuit ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window as they continue to search for the best young talents in world football.

The Blues’ interest in Diao comes amid Enzo Maresca’s push to bring a new left winger to the club this year.
Academy graduate Tyrique George has impressed in limited minutes so far this season, and scored his first Premier League goal against Fulham on Sunday, but Chelsea are still eager to sign a more proven entity amid Mykhailo Mudryk’s extended absence due to a doping suspension.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens is also on the west London club’s radar, in addition to Diao, as is Athletic Club superstar Nico Williams.
Nico Williams to Arsenal?
Chelsea’s interest in Diao suggests that may opt against seriously pursuing a summer move for the aforementioned Williams, which could aid Arsenal’s pursuit of the Spain international.
Chelsea had been tipped to rival Mikel Arteta’s side for his signature ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, but they have seemingly turned their attention to Diao and Arsenal could therefore have a fairly clear run at landing Williams.
