FootballTransfers understands that Williams is one of Arsenal's priority targets and that Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta is in continuous contact with the player's representatives.

The 22-year-old has yet to make a final decision on his future, but Berta is trying to speed up the process as he wants to get Arsenal's summer business done early.

Despite still being undecided over his next move, Williams has now completed a purchase that could provide a hint as to where his future might lie.

Williams acquires luxury villa

According to Gol Digital, Williams has completed the multi-million euro purchase of a plush villa in the popular Spanish resort town of Marbella.

Marbella is a favourite destination for the wealthy, and footballers are no different. Intriguingly, however, it is quite far from his Basque home of Bilbao. This has set off the alarm bells of the Athletic Club faithful.

Not only do supporters believe that this could mean a potential summer departure, but they are also very unhappy with the timing. Athletic Club are fighting for the Copa del Rey and Europa League titles as well as trying to shore up fourth place in the LaLiga table.

Fans believe that this is an unwelcome distraction for Williams, and some worry that he is taking his eyes off the ball. Last summer, Williams was Barcelona's top target, so his purchase of a new home in Spain could be a hint that he is planning to remain in LaLiga.

However, it would be foolish to try to read too much into his purchase. Marbella is in the South of Spain and not remotely close to Barcelona or Madrid. Indeed, sources close to the player insist that this investment has nothing do to with his sporting career.
