Thomas Partey open to Arsenal extension - David Ornstein

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is open to a contract extension, according to David Ornstein.
The Ghana international has been given a new lease on life this season, having managed to stay relatively injury-free for the first time in a long time. Partey has been very impressive for Arsenal at the base of Mikel Arteta's midfield this term.

In fact, such has been his importance to the Gunners that Arsenal have decided that they would like to continue with him beyond this season, contrary to what appeared to be the initial expectation.
Partey is out of contract this summer, and it originally seemed as though this would be his final season at the Emirates. However, FootballTransfers already revealed in November that Arsenal were keen to discuss his future and to potentially hand him an extension.
A crucial meeting took place in January, but Partey refused to make a firm decision so early in the year, knowing that he is a wanted man. Barcelona are understood to be interested in the 31-year-old.

Partey open to Arsenal extension
Despite the interest from Catalunya, Partey now appears to have made a decision in favour of Arsenal. David Ornstein of The Athletic has revealed that the midfielder is open to a contract extension.
Talks over a new deal are currently taking place, and Partey is willing to commit to two more years on improved terms. Alternatively, Arsenal could look to secure a one-year deal with an option to extend it by a further season, which is the offer the Gunners presented to him in January.

Ornstein reports that Partey and his family are very settled in London and are seemingly giving priority to Arsenal now. However, he also states that it is not yet set in stone that the midfielder will actually put pen to paper on a new deal.
Partey will explore a move away should no agreement be reached, but so far, the signs look good that Arsenal will retain an eminently important part of Mikel Arteta's team.
