The Switzerland international has established himself as one of Europe’s top shot-stoppers since his move to the Signal Iduna Park four years ago, and Newcastle United are also eyeing a potential deal ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window.
However, Chelsea are eager to win the race for Kobel’s signature and they have now lodged a €55m offer for the Borussia Dortmund star, according to Fichajes.
The Blues are due to hold talks with Kobel’s agent in London this week, as per reports in Germany, and negotiations are reportedly expected to intensify over the next few days.
Kobel still has three years remaining on his current contract at Dortmund, however, meaning Chelsea may be required to increase their offer if the Bundesliga giants push to retain his services.

Gregor Kobel to join Chelsea?
Kobel has been linked with a move to Chelsea for several years and a Stamford Bridge switch may finally be on the cards this summer.
The aforementioned Sanchez has been incredibly shaky in between the sticks so far this campaign, while summer signing Filip Jorgensen has only started six Premier League matches since his arrival from Villarreal.
As a result, Chelsea are interested in signing a new goalkeeper ahead of the 2025-26 season, although Djordje Petrovic may be given a chance to prove himself to Maresca upon the conclusion of his loan spell at Strasbourg.
In addition to Kobel, Chelsea have also been touted to pursue a summer move for Burnley’s James Trafford, Lille’s Lucas Chevalier or Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher.
